My son and daughter-in-law are moving across the country to the D.C. area. They have asked that I sell some of their possessions for them. This description has been provided by them:Are you a York Rite Mason? Do you have a special someone who is? Do you desire a sure-fire way to get into the local lodge without needing to know the secret handshake? Is your pocket watch sadly lacking in accessories? Have we got a fob for you! This is a very rare piece that looks to be circa 1920's. A watch fob with nine small (about 1 point) rose cut diamonds, and three small (about 5 points each) old European cut or late old mine cut diamonds. T are prongs for five of these diamonds, but two are missing. The fob also has 17 small (about 1 point each) rose cut stones, probably garnets. The paneling on the face is almost certainly onyx. It is hallmarked 14K. While I do have a jewelry background, and I feel fairly certain that we're looking at pyrope garnets and onyx, I'm only able to guarantee that the piece contains real diamonds (they were all tested) and that it's made of 14K gold. The knight's head has some articulation and separately articulated visor. The metal work is extraordinarily detailed, and may very well contain untold secrets of the Masons that laypersons such as myself can only imagine. Remember "Raiders of the Lost Ark," when the Nazis faces melted? Stuff like that. On the front of the piece, around the passion cross and crown, is the phrase "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES," which is Latin for "By this sign thou shall conquer." On the back of the piece are the letters KSHTWSST, which apparently stand for something secret that we non-masons aren't in on. The only thing we know for sure is the winning bidder will be very happy with this acquisition. Feel free to email me with any questions. Happy bidding! Please note - due to the unique nature of this item the shipping price includes insurance and a signed receipt.
