Circa 1860 14K Gold and silver Butterfly pin with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. The top is silver and the hand pierced underside is 14k yellow gold . The wings are encrusted with bead set rose cut diamonds, throughout the wings is a beautiful milgrain and bead finish. Bezel set in yellow gold throughout the wings are (6) round sapphires measuring approximately 3mm. (4) round bezel set emeralds measuring approximately 3mm each. (2) round bezel set rubies measuring approximately 3mm each. The head is set with a bezel set 3mm round emerald and an oval bezel set ruby measuring 4.99mm x 4.01mm wide. The body is yellow gold and silver set with (6) rose cut diamonds. The butterfly measures 2.50 inches from wing tip to wing tip, and 1.25 inches from the antennae to the body. This pin is in excellent condition and has the original pin back. All the rose cut diamonds weigh approx 1.75 ct., sapphires 1.00 ct., emeralds.60 ct. and rubies .75 ct. This pin a beautiful example of fine quality and craftsmanship.
