This lovely solid gold brooch. First tested as 18k but further testing showed may be 14k. Gram weight of item is 20 grams. Stands 2 3/8 inches tall and full of diamonds and emeralds. Beautiful florentine and stipple pattern work. Real craftsmanship indeed. Due to less quality workmanship on repairs this is a restoration project. I've lowered the price due to recent observations. It appears the flower with the cluster setting as well as one end of the brooch were attached with soft solder on the back. T's just a tiny bit. The stem appears to extend throug the flower and attaches to the cluster because the inner row or petals will turn. It was probably done to keep the entire flower from spinning. I've seen a lot of this on other old jewelery. They're very secure and I cannot pull apart with my hands. I'm a bench jeweler of 30 years and it's a very easy thing to remove the soft solder if you bring to a jeweler. It's a really tiny spot at each of the welds. The emeralds aren't of very good quality, one is broken and another is missing. The largest diamond is SI3 the rest are mostly single cuts of better quality If I were in the estate jewelry business I'd remove most or all the 1.5 to 1.6mm emeralds and replace with diamonds sapphires or rubies, remove the soft solder spots and attach with gold solder. T's 50 settings w the emeralds read more
