The term "Patina" is sometimes used, the definition of Patina is "color change on the surface of metal, resulting from age and exposure to the atmosp; a type of oxidation." I do not polish the jewelry, I have found many collectors feel that it devalues a piece to polish it, so I will leave the polishing up to the new owner.
