This auction is for an antique 14kt Solid Gold and Gemstone Turtle, Just Wonderful! This little beauty is quite old and was made sometime in the late 19th century, it is at least 100 years old and probably closer to 115 years old. It is crafted out of solid 14kt Yellow Gold ( unmarked but professionally tested) and it has Mine Cut Natural Diamonds, Natural Russian Green Garnets (Demantoids) and Natural Opals, The Brooch is so lovely and detailed, it appears that the body of the Turtle was made by wax casting, I am not an expert on this type of Jewelry making but it show the signs you would expect from a wax cast item, it could also have just been cast in a mold of some other sorts as well, regardless it is amazing! There is a single mine cut diamond in the Head and then there are 4 more mine cut Diamonds that run down the middle of the Turtles Backs, the Demantoid go all around the outer part of the Turles shell and the opal are set in the inside sections of the shell between the Diamonds and Green Garnets. The Gemstones are all small and the largest one is the Diamond in the Turtles Head that is approx 10 points. The Demantoid Garnets are approx. 6-7 points each and the Opals are about 5 points each. The Brooch is small and measures 1 1/4" long and a little over 3/4" wide but it has a nice heavy weight to it and weighs 8.7 Grams of solid 14kt Yellow Gold and Natural Gemstones. The Turtle Brooch is in good conditon but there are some issues, One of the Opals is missing and there is damage to a few of the other Gemstones, although you need magnificatin to see any of this, there is also an old repair to the stick pin portion of the brooch and they used plain solder not gold to reinforce the pin back and you can see bits of solder on the underside of the pin, the pin back is all solid 14kt gold but it was reattached with solder.........this is not really fixable according to a Goldsmith that I took the brooch too , it is not a major issue but it is what it is and the Goldsmith said that in his experiance once solder is applied to the older items it should be left alone and not redone as that could cause futher problems, there is not enough solder to add any major weight to the item, less than 1/2 a gram even but I list every detail I can find so that the buyer is not surprised or disappointed....You will not be disappointed in this wonderful old treasure I promise.....and if you are not delighted to own it, you can return it for a full refund, plus the cost of returning it to me! This Brooch has been professionally tested and is quaranteed to have the Gemstones and Gold content as stated, These are TRUE Russian Demantoid Garnets and not some other green gem, they are mostly heavily included with horsetails and other inclusions that the demantiods from the Ural Mountains have. They are a light emerald green and they POP! Free Domstic Shipping and Discounted International Shipping! Returns are accepted if the item is returned within the first 7 days of receipt in its original condition! Please visit my other auctons as I have some wonderful estate items this week and I will be adding more next weekend as well!
