15" Early Neopolitan Lady Creche Figure - Blue Glass Eyes & Molded Teeth
Up for auction is a beautiful unusual early 15" lady creche figure with a wonderful face, blue glass eyes, molded teeth, and molded hair ribbon. This lady has a polychromed head, forearms, hands and forelegs and mules. Her head, forearms, hands, and shoes are made of wood. As you can see in the photos, this lady creche figure has an exquisitely hand carved face with a smile showing her tiny molded teeth and wavy upswept hair with a molded hair ribbon across the top of her head. She also has beautiful blue glass eyes. This creche figure has a stuffed body, upper arms, and thighs. Her forearms and hands are intricately and delicately carved. Her forelegs and mule shoes are beautifully carved as well. She is dressed in a gold silk pleated skirt with green ribbon and gold braid trim, a trimmed ecru peasant blouse with lace trim at the sleeves under a fancily trimmed burgundy velvet vest and armlettes and a lined silk apron with ribbon and stitched trim. Around her neck, this lady is wearing a faceted blush pink bead necklace. She also has handcarved wooden and polychromed teal blue stockings and brick red mules. The bottoms of the heels of her shoes have a hole for her original stand. As shown in the photographs, this lady has places of paint wear, the end of her nose has been repaired, and the very tip of her right third finger is missing. Her clothing has wear and some tattering especially her apron. This early creche lady figure is truly amazing with her intricately molded hair and teeth and her blue eyes. She is odor free and from a smoke free home. The stand that this figure is using in the photographs is included in this auction.
