An intricately carved 150 year old Chinese carving of two rabbits in a tropical flower garden. The carving is very well exectuted with a high degree of detail in the rasied work of the rabbits as well as the flowers in the garden. The rabbit was one of the twelve animals of the asian zodiac. The rabbit is one of the most delicate animals in the zociac. they are usually kind and sweet and popular. Nobody ignores them for they are good compay and know how to make the best of themselves. This carving probably fit into a larger carving or piece of furniture. A Chinese bed, for example could have been made up of over 100 carvings all fitting together to form a grand kang (raised bed). See example in last picture. This precisely carved scene has a gold gilding over a red lacquer base along with a hand painted boarder. The backside was left unpainted. Having been protected by being incorporated in a larger piece of furnature for over a century, this carving remains in fine condition with slight deterioration on the right boarder (see picture 6). Measuring 14" long by 4 1/2" high and 1/4" deep (36 x 12 x 0.8 cm). You'll love it, I guarantee it.........If you purchase this item and are not completely delighted with it, you may return it for a no questions asked refund within 14 days of receipt.
