SCARCE AND DESIRABLE VENETIAN POST-INCUNABLE EDITION OF THE FAMOUS SPHAERA OF SACROBOSCO, THE MOST POPULAR MEDIEVAL TEXT-BOOK ON ASTRONOMY!

This edition is a reissue of the 1513 Sessa edition, which, in turn, was closely based on the 1490 Venice edition in-quarto (with the same collation as this 1519 edition!) printed by Bonetus Locatellus for Octavianus Scotus.

" Reimpression de l'edition 3 dec. 1513 ; grand bois de l'Hyginus, 15 sept. 1512 (copie de la gravure du Sphaera Mundi 3 dec. 1501). Dans le texte, diagrammes et figures astron., initiales orn. de divers genres. Petite marque a fond noir ". (Essling, Les Livres a Figures Venitiens . no.268)

This edition of Sacrobosco's "Sphaera" features the commentary of Joannes Regiomontanus ("Disputationem Ioannis de monte Regio contra Cremonensia in planetarum Theoricas deliramenta præfatio." on fols. 22-30), and also includes the important treatise by Georg Peurbach "Theoricae Novae Planetarum" (on fols. 30b-47).
