1551 Matthews Framed Black Letter Bible Leaf/Rare! Paypal accepted, the fees apply. This is a RARE offering for a framed Bible leaf(see scan) from the Matthews Edition printed by Wyllyam Bonham in 1551. The frame is a floating frame w the leaf is placed between two pieces of glass so one can see both sides of the leaf! This is for a random selection(my choice) and will have at least one large Woodcut Capital and in good antiquarian condition! Leaf measures about 8" X 12" overall frame about 11 1/2" X 14 1/2". This translation is commonly believed by many to be the work of John Rodgers who supposedly used the pseudonym Thomas Matthew for reasons of persecution. This edition which brings together the work of both Tyndale and Coverdale, is considered to be the REAL PRIMARY VERSION OF OUR ENGLISH BIBLE(quoted from Herberts Catalogue of English Bibles), though they think that the work is primarily Tyndales and Coverdales and John Rodgers only contributed a small part in the translation(the Lord knows for sure!). These are large Black Letter Folio size leaves measuring about 8" X 12". T may be a little soiling and/or a small amount of browning but will generally be in good condition. They are over 450 years old! Specific verses available for a premium. These will come with a nice looking Certificate of Authenticity. PLEASE NOTE: it is recommended that antiquarian cloth leaves be framed with archival(and acid free) materials, or if stored(this offers the best protection), with acid free materials. Avoiding direct sunlight or fluorescent lighting is highly recommended(avoiding any light is best). If you are not going to frame your leaves, let me know and I can include two acid free sheets to protect your leaves.
