Di Felice Figliucci Senese Della Filosofia Morale Libri Dieci Sopra I Dieci Libri Dell'Etica D'Aristotile Figliucci, Felice. Vinegia (Venice): Per Giouanmaria Bonelli, 1552. Rare mid sixteenth century finely bound philosophical work by Felice Figliucci, entitled 'Della Filosofia Morale Libri Dieci...', published in Venice, 1552. Felice Figliucci (Felix Filliucius) was an Italian humanist, philosopher, and theologian; this piece is his examination (in ten books) on the ethics of Aristotle, aimed at reconciling Aristotelianism with neo-Platonism of Ficino (of which he translated and edited several works in the vernacular) and Pico, thetranslator of classics. In 1556 he took the Dominican habit at the Florentine convent of San Marco with the religious name of Alessio Figliucci. This remains his most significant work. Stout 8vo, bound in fine mid 19th century blind tooled full calf over bevel edged boards, spine with four raised bands, red morocco gilt title label (with some loss). Page edges gilt and with ornate gauffered decoration, which is period with the binding. Text in Italian. Marbled EPs. The contents are complete, foliated, meeting collation: 520,[19] leaves. Binding very well kept, with only some slight rubbing; text moderate and consistent; a couple leaves with some edgewear, staining and creases, else fine. Title page laid read more
