The large horse statue (Bei Wei Style) is standing in a dancing pose with three legs on the square-shaped base. An elaborate saddle is placed on its back. The craftsmanship quality is outstanding and much attention has been paid to details such as the drapery of the saddle, the muscles and the mane which is executed in relief work. The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese zodiac, an organization of the calendar into 12-year cycles, each represented by an animal associated with specific personality traits. It is widely believed that people born in the year of the horse are perceptive and skilful. This wonderful piece strongly reflects those character features. The craftsmanship quality and the ultra fine paintwork applied to this elegant sculpture is outstanding!
