oil on wood panel, likely 17th century and possibly earlier, a rich interior scene depicting the Adoration of the Magi. In an interior setting with Roman architecture,including arches, columns and statuary, and the Mother and Child are seated before two Magi who present their offerings. The star shines in the sky above, and the ominous figure of a Roman soldier appears on the left side in the landscape, presumably a reference to the jealous King Herod. Housed in a painted wood frame; 22.5` x 35` (sight), 27.5` x 40` (w/frame).
