Reference: Hollstein 131 (R.Sadeler) The Sadeler made 4 suites with Male hermites during the 1585-1600 period in Venice.This is one off them. Original, no copy by other engraver ! Engraver: Raphael Sadeler I (1560-1628) Jan Sadeler and his brothers Aegidius and Raphael are originally from Brussels but later went to Germany where most of their important 16th century's production found birth. Although mainly done after the invention of contemporain artist from the late 16th century, the work of the Sadelers has it's place among the great achievements of 16th-17th European engraving art. The quality in design and de excellent engraving technical is also strongly present in this engraving. Inventor Marten de VOS (1532-1603) Antwerp This important Flemish painter, had an enormous impact second half 16th century.He was a pre-Rubenist. His work and designs found response in many Flemish engravings of that period. Technical: The print measure about 6.00 inches in height by 8.40 inches wide. On watermarked laid paper with chain lines at 1.00 inches. Remarginned in a windowcut sheet.. Good lifetime impression with nice plate tone.
