This is an unusual style (open crock) early delft polychrome apothecary jar that dates back to the 1700's. Deep cobalt blue decoration pops out from the cream colored background. The hand painted decoration features peacocks. S. Senapis . I believe this is mustard seed in latin. The jar is in over fantastic condition for its age. There are no cracks or chips but there is are spots around the rims where this glaze has worn off or just was never there. Stands 5 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches across from rim to rim. Wonderful apothecary piece Free shipping in the lower 48. Shipment to foreign countries 40.00
