17` (43 cm.) A lady with pale bisque socket head, blue glass eyes, delicately painted features, closed mouth with hint of smile, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and lower legs, metal upper arms, bisque forearms, is attached by hidden metal rods from her torso to a three wheeled perambulator with spiral twist handle. The woman is wearing a rich ivory and red satin governess costume, with red stockings and shoes, red silk bonnet, holds a baby rattle in her left hand and appears to push the carriage with her right. The carriage is fitted with ivory silk and contains a 6` French all-bisque mignonette with brown glass eyes, swivel head, peg-jointed limbs, silk costume, painted shoes. When wound, the lady walks forward and in circles while the carriage bobs up and down giving an illusion as though the baby was rising up and down. Condition: mechanism functions well, lady has hairline at back of head, child has facial hairlines. Comments: attributed to Vichy, circa 1875. Value Points: unusual larger size of the luxury automaton with beautiful presentation, exquisite facial expressions on lady and child.
