This transferware belonged to my stepfather's mother. He was born in 1919,may he rest in peace. We have a large lot of antiques to research and are selling some. I sent pictures to an antique gallery owner who specializes in china, transferware in particular. He was awed by the subject matter, the intricate details and symbolism, old tools and ornate asian scrolls and artistry. I like the farm boy's stance-he's really trying to reign in that bull! He said it is ca 1850 or earlier. Due to the few imperfections, I have researched extensively, not finding anything as detailed in nature and artistry, but considered size, age, condition and appraisal w/pricing. "Imperial Warranted China" mark, with the crown beneath "Imperial" and a shield below "Warranted". In the pic,it is the exact mark on the left. This platter measures 11.5" X 17". It is in great condition overall, with a few flaws: one small chip on the top right side, a smaller chip on the bottom right. Top left corner has a chip, about a half inch long. No hairlines, but the old, very light crackling throughout. Nice deep space in the middle, perfect for serving meat. It is quite heavy and thick. The bottom is in great to excellent condition. None of the artwork is disturbed, the glaze is still shiny, clear and protective. I wanted to describe every imperfection that I can see or feel-I know how difficult it is to not be able to actually see such an old, unique antique piece. Thank you for looking!
