Hans Kortner Solingen Silverware You are bidding on a beautiful lot of silverware by Hans Kortner, Solingen. PLEASE NOTE: I am not an expert on silverware, but after research, I think I understand the German silverplate marking system. If I have it wrong, I welcome corrections from helpful eBayers. The "90" mark means that 90 grams of fine ("pure") silver was used to plate 12 + 12 (24) pieces of silverware. There are 17 pieces of silverware marked "90" in this lot, meaning there is about 64 grams (2.1 oz) of pure silver worth about $73 (based on current prices around $35/oz.). The pieces are in very good overall condition. Most of the pieces are clean with only minor surface wear such as rubbing marks (the knife blades look only lightly used). A few pieces have several deeper scratches or scuffs, but there is nothing too bad.
