3 DAY AUCTION Up for auction is a stunning, all original, museum quality late 18th Century - early 19th Century Straight Razor. This razor was purchased directly from Robert Doyle, author of Straight Razor Collecting: An Illustrated History and was part of the private collection of Judge Henry T. Lummus, author of Old Sheffield Razors (Antiques: December, 1922).Here is a link to Lummus' famous article. It's a must-read for any serious razor enthusiast.http://www.coticule.be/the-cafeteria/topic/534.htmlThe blade is 5/8" wedge in excellent condition. No chips or cracks anywhere on the blade. She opens and closes very tight, true to center. The tang is marked "Gratian, Warranted."These horn scales feature a decorative pewter inlay and original Bulls Eye brass pins.Judge Lummus etched the number "1075" into the scales as a way to catalog the razor. This is the finest razor I have ever had the pleasure to own, period. But I am moving to a slum in Uganda to make action movies (true story) and I'm forced to let it go. The money is going to them. The blade is sharp, but I have never honed it. I kept it in the exact same condition as received, out of respect.
