It is thick 12mo (6 X 4 inches); hardcover; full vellum on boards; manuscript titles in ink on spine mostly faded away; edges worn; vellum darkened with age & soiled; small stains & foxing spots throughout; plates are torn, stained, foxed and have repairs at folds; text block split at rear of book in index but no pages loose; xliv +645 + xliv pages + 5 engraved folding plates. The book is a Dutch translation of William Cave's "Primitive Christianity, or, The religion of the ancient Christians in the first ages of the gospel in three parts," first published in London in 1672. William Cave (30 December 1637 – 4 August 1713)[1] was an English divine and patristic scholar.
