All proceeds from this sale will benefit the Mattapoisett Friends Meeting (Quaker Church) Fund Raising Restoration Project. WOW - this amazing map of ASIA is 270 years old !! It was donated to our cause from an elderly woman who said this map has been in her family for many, many years. Her mother brought it to the US from Germany in the early 1900's. It was once part of a greater Atlas. It appears to have French language at the top of the Map and Latin language in the other areas. This is an ORIGINAL engraved colored 1744 Heritiers de Homann Map of ASIA ( Asian Continent). I don't know how to begin to describe the condition of such an old piece of paper but I will do the best I can. For it's age it appears to be in very good condition, but you collectors will know best. It has age wear and slight tears along the ragged edges. It appears to have been tacked to a wall at one time as there are little tack holes in the corners. Obviously it is folded and originated from an Atlas/Book. The paper has yellowed over time and there are some age stains to the paper. But all-in-all for 270 years old - I don't think its in bad shape.
