You are bidding on a very rare and 100% original - authentic - genuine 245 Year Old handcolored antique map of the above region from by the famous 18th century English cartographer Thomas Kitchin. Thomas Kitchin (1718-1784) was one of the most important cartographers of the late 18th century. Kitchin was a famous English geographer, engraver and publisher and was appointed hydrographer to the King of England. I cannot stress enough how beautiful these maps are up close compared to the photos that you see. Note that the photos do not do the map justice. These are truly incredible maps to behold!! General Description: 1.Strikingly interesting and highly detailed map. Incredibly beautiful handcoloring. Very decorative cartouche. The map depicts in great detail all of the geographical information known at the time the map was published. Depending on the map in the listing, note that many geographical details have changed since the map was published and were not accurate compared to today's modern maps!! Map symbols and details include individual towns, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, islands, mountains, forests, roads and other important places as shown on the map in this listing. 2. The map is in excellent condition considering the age of the map. The overall size of the map sheet is approximately 9 inches by 8 inches. 3. The map is a 100% orignal and genuine antique map. 4. Full retail prices of the maps can be in the hundreds of dollars. The starting price for this map is far, far lower than the full retail price. These individual maps rarely come up fo auction and if they do then not at a low price like this. All of my maps are investment grade and collectible quality. The value of this original will only increase over time. Many people are now starting to offer cheap reproductions/copies.
