1764 antique WEST INDIES Jamaica BARBADOS Pennsylvania .... A handsome 1764 three quarters leather bound, first edition London-published volume containing a portion of HISTORY OF AMERICA (it’s part of a set, with other volumes covering other regions of America, both north and south), this one covering primarily Pennsylvania, Hudson Bay, and much on the West Indies. This 556 page volume begins with the HISTORY OF PENNSYLVANIA (85 pages), followed by HUDSON’ BAY (55 pages). The coverage then shifts into “The History of the British and Other Islands in the American West Indies,” beginning with THE HISTORY OF BARBADOS (84 pages) then HISTORY OF SAINT LUCIA, SAINT VINCENT, GRENADINE ISLANDS, (84 pages) then MARTINICO, GUADALOUPE AND THE OTHER FRENCH CARIBBEES (36 pages,) then THE OTHER ENGLISH CARIBBEE ISLANDS (Anguilla, St. Martin, “Berbuda,” St. Christopher’s, Dominica, Nevis, and Antigua) (55 pages), followed by a few pages each on MONTSERRAT and “TABAGO,” BERMUDAS and THE BAHAMA ISLANDS.
