Here is an Extremely Fine Quality Short Hunting Sword or Dirk with a Sterling Silver Hilt Made in 1772 in London by Silversmith William Kinman
The Blade (10 inches - 25.5 cms) is of Very Fine Quality and Possibly Shortened from a Far Earlier Sword Blade This Handsome Hunting Dirk has a Beautiful Carved Green Bone Grip with an Intricate Cross Guard made in Fully Hallmarked English Sterling Silver This is a Rare Hunting Dirk and it would make an Excellent Restoration Project for a Serious Arms Enthusiast Here is a top quality short Hunting Sword or Dirk with a hilt made by the noted London silversmith, William Kinman in 1772. The Hunting Dirk has a beautiful carved green bone grip with an intricate cross guard made in fully hallmarked English Sterling Silver. The intricate pommel features the face of a lion or mythical beast. The sword blade measures ten inches long (10 ins / 25.5 cms) and was possibly shortened from a far earlier longer blade of Continental origin. There are three letters stamped into the blade which appear to be “L T C”. The scabbard shows its age, but the throat piece is nicely engraved with three scroll initials. This is a top quality Hunting Dirk in overall very good condition. The sword blade is clean, the silver very good and the bone hilt of remarkable quality with no sign of any cracks. I am not a sword expert so please see photographs to determine the condition.
