Offered without reserve: John Penn, part-printed document on vellum, completed in manuscript, signed as the last Royal proprietary governor of Pennsylvania, February 15, 1775. Docketed by William Parr, March 28, 1776. " THIS INDENTURE Made the twenty third Day of February in the Fifteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George ye Third by the Grace of God King of GREAT-BRITAIN, &c. and in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and seventy five Between ye Hon'ble Tho's Penn & John Penn Esq'rs true & absolute Prop's of Governors in Chief of ye Province of Pennsylvania & Counties of New Castle Kent and Sussex on Delaware of one Part And Michael Troy Esq'r of the other Part. WAS the said Michael Troy having in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy five applied for, and requested the said Proprietaries, to permit him to take up one Lot of Ground on the East Side of Broadway Street, in the Town of Sunbury and County of Northumberland in the said Province, marked in the general Plan of the said Town, No. Seventy one in order to build ton (one substantial Dwelling-house, of Twenty Feet square at least, with a good brick or stone Chimney, and to improve the same within the Space of three Years, then next ensuing, agreeable to the said Plan, and the Regulations fixed for building the said Town, under the yearly Rent in after expressed and reserved: And the said Proprietaries favouring his Request, did order and direct the said Lot of Ground to be surveyed and laid out for the said Michael Troy AND by their Warrant, bearing Date the Fourth Day of January last under the Seal of their Land-Office, having required their Surveyor-General to accept and receive the Survey so made of the said Lot, into his Office and to make Return tof into their Secretary's Office, in order for Confirmation to the said Michael Troy upon the Terms and Conditions in after expressed; the said Surveyor-General hath, in Pursuance of the said Warrant, accordingly made his Return of the said Lot of Ground, and the same is found to be situate, bounded and described, as follows, (that is to say) Containing in Breadth North and South on Broadway af''d fifty seven feet & six Inches and in Length East and West two hundred & Thirty feed Bounded Westward by Broadway afores'd Southward by Lot No Seventy two Eastward by River Alley and Northward by Lot No Seventy. "As in and by the said Survey, Warrant and Return, remaining in the said Surveyor-General's Office, and from thence certified into the Secretary's Office (Relation being tunto respectfully had) more fully appears. Now this Intenture witnesseth, That at the Instance and Request of the said Michael Troy to the said Proprietaries, to grant and confirm the said Lot of Ground unto him and for and in Consideration of the Charge and Expence which the said Michael Troy hath already expended, and is to lay out and expend in building upon, and improving the same Lot, and for and in Consideration of the Rents, Conditions, and Services in after reserved to be paid and performed on the Part of the said Michael Troy his Heirs and Assigns, they the said Proprietaries, have given, granted, released and confirmed, and by these Presents, for themselves, their Heirs and Successors, do give, grant, release and confirm unto the said Michael Troy and his Heirs, all that the said in before described Lot of Ground, with all Houses, Out-houses, Edifices, Buildings, Yards, Orchards, Gardens, Ways, Waters, Water-Courses, Liberties, Profits, Commodities, Advantages, ditaments, and Appurtenances whatsoever, to the said Lot of Ground belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and the Reversions and Remainders tof. To have and to hold the said Lot of Ground, with the Appurtenances by granted and mentioned, or intended so to be, unto the said Michael Troy his Heirs and Assigns, to the only proper Use and Behoof of the said Michael Troy his Heirs and Assigns forever. To be holden of them the said Proprietaries, their Heirs and Successors...
