This is a 4-page newspaper with a page size of 10.25" x 8". It has a decorative masthead showing an allegorical seated figure of "liberty" reading a law book above the "scales of justice." This issue contains a 1/2 column detailed report of the flight of an early HYDROGEN BALLOON at Oxford, England. This is one of the earliest hydrogen balloon flights on record since it was first "invented" by Jacques Charles in France in 1783. This report also details the preparation of the HYDROGEN GAS to make the balloon lighter-than-air. This was printed just after the end of the American Revoluitionary War and in addition to National and International news has LOCAL Boston area news and ads from 228 years ago !! Very good condition.
