FOUR VOLUMES published in 1788 shortly after the death of Frederick II or Frederick the Great (1712-1786) who was King of Prussia in the period 1740-1786-- OEUVRES POSTHUMES DE FRÉDÉRIC LE GRAND ROI DE PRUSSE, TOMES 1-4. Printed in French. Most writings by Frederick the Great were in the French language. He wrote poetry, prose on politics, history, philosophy, literature. These particular volumes contain his correspondence with VOLTAIRE and some of Frederick's plays, poetry, thoughts about religion, and various letters of correspondence. The name of the publisher was not found, but presumably printed in Prussia (Berlin). All four volumes with date of 1788 printed on Title Page. The contents and interiors of these books have no markings, no names, no library marks. Clean interiors; odor-free; tight binding; excellent supple leaves. Paper covered boards with leather spines and corners; spine backstrips are loose or damaged.
