Ceres, symbolizing the earth's fertility, appears at the right, bearing grape vines. Additional symbols, including a Liberty cap, adorn the border, while the left edge has an authentic undulating security cut with red imprints on the back. The latter allowed the bill to be checked against the Treasury plate sheet from which it was originally cut.
