1799 CAPT.JOSHUA SANDS Autograph REV WAR New York Port Document dated 1799. Carries the SIGNATURE of JOSHUA SANDS who served as a Captain in the American Army during the Revolutionary War. He was also an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. He was a member of the New York State Senate 1792 - 1799. SANDS was also the Collector of Customs at the Port of New York. This document is from that time of his position as Collector. "We Certify that HUGH POLLOCK did on the fourteenth of January 1799 make oath that he together with RICHARD YATES, & GEORGE POLLOCK & CHARLES WHITE were the true and only owners of the Ship Three Sisters & that a Register was issued in their names accordingly. And We further Certify that on the twenty ninth day of July HUGH POLLOCK made oath (that he together) with CHARLES WHITE were the only Owners of the said Ship Three Sisters wupon a Register was issued & the former one was surrendered."Signed by JOSHUA SANDS, Collector, with another unidentifiable signature.Carries two circular 1.75" seals, One seal for "The New York Custom House" showing the harbor, two ships, and a large sun.
