This I am told is a 17th century or earlier dagger. It minimum 350 years old or older .This dagger is so old it is hard to see but both sides of the blade had scroll work and engraving. It is partly visible at different angels on both sides. T handle has what looks like a cross or skull crusher on the pommel. The handle is beautifully ornate on both sides. This dagger is a true museum and would make a perfect addition to any serious collection or just as a display on it own.The length is a little under 16 1/2 inches long by 1 3/4 inches at the widest point.I am starting with a low reserve. Please email me with questions or comments. I just recived an email from a guy saying he belives this is a Indian, 19th century. Patterned after Afghani Khyber knife. I have looked at similair daggers and can not find any Indian dagger even close to this? Please if any one has any input write to me.First I don't see any khyber knifes that even look close to this especially from the 1800's.If any one thinks this is Indian I challenge you to find a photo and show me a similiar one.Look at the handle of this knife the way the blade is mounted the double fully scroll engraved blade ,and the ornate flower pattern on the handle also the Christian cross symbol or Fleur-de-lis symbol on the pommel. It is difficult to find information on knives this old.The dealer it came from years ago stated on the recipt which I will include with the dagger that this is a German 17th century or earlier hunting dagger.
