Up for auction is a 100% authentic 17th Century Hand Wrought Iron Grappling Hook WITH PROVENANCE TO INFAMOUS PIRATE HENRY MORGAN!!!! Grappling Hooks were commonly used by both Pirates and Privateers as an effective ship boarding tool when attached to a rope and thrown up into the rigging of the ship being commandeered. Grappling hooks also served as weapons by the Pirates when necessary. The details of the recovery and provenance of this rare treasure are included on the Certificate of Authenticity and this piece was actually authenticated by none other than the world renowned treasure hunter Robert F. Marx whose research and hands on excavation experience in Port Royal, Jamaica make him one of the most knowledgeable experts on pirate history and Henry Morgan. As described on the Certificate of Authenticity, this grappling hook was recovered by use of a metal detector (with permission from the current property caretaker) from the infamous Pirate Henry Morgan's estate in Danks, Clarendon, Jamaica... it was partially buried in the river bank adjacent to the remaining original foundation of Morgans home.
