--- Well you asked for it --- --- And it is! --- This is from my best Brazilian Opal rough . For those of you who know about Brazilian opal t is little I need to say. You know what youâe(tm)re seeing âe" good luck! I have devised a simple grading system that will offer anyone a quick and fair description of the stone. The underlined grade is for this stone: GC âe" Guaranteed Color in the stone GM âe" Guaranteed Multi-color in sizable areas of the stone GMT âe" Guaranteed Multi-color throughout most of the stone GMTS âe" Guaranteed Multi-color Semi-Crystal GMTC - Guaranteed Multi-color Crystal For those unfamiliar with Brazilian opal, âe(tm)s a few suggestions to help you: Tip #1. Sometimes t is sometimes a grayish or brownish cast to the stoneâe(tm)s surface. Once this natural, thin, proctectant covering is removed the stoneâe(tm)s real beauty reveals itself. While each photo is a fair representation of the actual stone, seeing it in person is really the best way to judge. Tip #2. One suggestion would be to take the stone out into the sunlight, placing it in a black pan or skillet with enough water to cover the stone. Move the opal around while it is submerged to see the real brilliance and give you an idea of orientation. Tip #3. If you have not cut a lot of opal you will need to be very careful. Take a lot of time in orienting the stone. Cut correctly, these gems are magnificent. If you are just starting to cut bid on the smaller stones until you are confident you wonâe(tm)t ruin a $200/ct. gem. - More About Brazilian Opal - The best Brazilian Opal comes from mines near a remote mining community at Pedro II (Segundo) in the north-eastern state of Piaui. T are two types of opal from the region: opals mined from original seams in host rock, similar to South Australia; and the rare crystal-type called âeoeopal-nuggetsâe dug by shovel from open pit mines. These very rare opal-nuggets are detritus material deposited, migrated and worn down by transport mechanics over millions of years. Brazilian Crystal Opal is comparable to the rarest and best quality crystal-type opals from the opal fields of Andamoka, Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge in Australia. While I sometimes sell other types of opal, precious Brazilian Opal is my specialty. Harder than most Australian opals, Brazilian opal rarely cracks or crazes. Most of the material I sell was mined over 30 years ago so you can rest assured they are guaranteed to last. Thank you for your interest. See why I am so excited to offer you these rare gems. I am in love with them. So be careful they might just steal your heart, too!
