$5 18_______ The Bank of Commerce at Newbern, North Carolina (Obsolete Currency)Description: Obverse: When held up to light, four enlarged pinholes are visible in the center of the note. Several are above the head of the lady in the lower right corner and scattered in isolated areas. No tears are evident or body cancellations however around the pinholes are old glue spots where possible mounting ocurred in the past. Otherwise , the note body is clear and clean with bold, complete, sharp lettering, numbers, titles and explanations. Scolling and ornamentation is pronounced, complete, detailed and sharp around the V, 5's and the FIVE parallel to the bottom. Portraits are all mint like in conditon with sharp primary outlines and strong secondary inner line detailing resulting in both depth and a three dimensional appearance to the viewer. Note face lacks scuffing while having four complete corners with three having sharp edges. Folds are all very low relief without paper separations or scuffing. Along their runs, they only produce indentations of variable sizes along the top left portion. Above the right most 5, near the top, the top margin is irregular with material removed to the top of the small 5 in the corner.
