FIVE-GALLON CROCK
BREATHTAKING COLLECTIBLE

This is a rare, early Civil War era five gallon crock. The company produced stoneware pots from around 1862 to 1893. It is hard to read exactly what is impressed in the pot. I gave it my best shot...use your own judgment. It has a glossy grayish glaze on the outside, and a brown satin finish glaze on the inside. It has a very lively blue flower on the front. This is a very attractive display crock. It shows the folk art of the mid-1800's.

This crock is in fair condition, but is a very attractive show piece. It shows wear and use from around a century and a half of existence. T are two large cracks...one down the side and one down the back. They have been filled with something by a previous owner. T is a small chip on the inside of the top ring. Both hand press handles are missing. The jug has the typical maker's imperfections. T is some pocking to the surface. The base is unglazed. The jug is about 11 3/4" tall with an opening diameter of about 12".

WHAT A WONDERFUL DISPLAY PIECE THIS WOULD BE FOR A GENERAL STORE OR FOR A COUNTRY KITCHEN. IT WOULD BE A SUPER ACCENT PIECE FOR A FARM HOUSE.
