Beautiful original antique oil painting on canvas board of a grandfatherly gentleman with round spectacles in a brown suit with a front pocket. From an estate!!! Interestingly, his name is known as I was able to make out in the lower left corner in black paint "T. Winfield Gore". Limited research points me to thinking that Dr/Mr. Gore was from Pennsylvania and may have been a physician in the Philly area or possibly a country doctor. Painting would date from the late 1800s, no later than the very early 1900s but more likely late 1800s. Painting is in excellent condition with no repairs. Some minor craqueluere indicative of the age. Size of canvas board is 18x24 and framed size is 22.75 x 28.5. The gold wooden frame is very nice and goes very well with the painting, but I don't believe it is the original frame as the painting originally had nails holding it into the frame (seen if the backing is removed) but the current nice wood frame has framing points holding the backing on. The painting has been well cared for all these years but finds itself now out of the original family.
