This fabulous old Victorian belt has its original loop which was used as a chatelaine hook that held things like keys and sewing items. This belt is one of the most ornate I have seen with a sliding metal loop and one link that is fancy and scrolled. Each link has molded shiny pieces made to look like jewels when the light hits it ( I thought it had marcasites when I first looked at it) . The belt has an old double chatelaine chain with hooks on each end to hold the items that I spoke about before. The belt buckle is a working buckle and it is really wide ( 3") and the belt which measures 1 1/2" wide and is made of LOTS of intricate links. The belt it a total of 30" long and considering it is well over 100 years old has very little silver wear. Great piece for Victorian clothing collectors to add to the dresses they display. I am not sure of the metal content ( pretty sure it is not sterling).
