Up for your consideration is the most wonderful, and I do mean wonderful, mid-late 1800s blue milk paint trencher. This piece still has loads of blue milk paint remaining! I've taken photos all around this piece to show how much paint is still remaining. This trencher has been carved out of one large piece of wood as you can see and feel the carving marks around the outside of the piece. The inside has the usual cuttings from making (I assume) bread and a couple of minor stains which is normal for the date of this piece. T are no cracks or chips on this piece. It is in excellent condition for its age. Some of the milk paint has worn off on the side edges from lots of handling, and also has that wonderful silky soft patina feel to the touch. The color blue is a deeper blue as shown in pictures 2 and 5. Sorry, I could not get the brightness adjusted to show the exact true color. The bottom of this trencher has a flat edge and sits nicely without rocking. The size is perfect for displaying on any size table, bowl rack, or stacking in a dry sink. This great piece measures approximately 9 1/4" wide x 18 1/4" long x 3 1/2" deep. I have it displayed on a tavern table with dried spiced oranges and bellini apples. It also looks great with nothing as it is a beautiful piece of art by itself! My reserve is exactly what I paid for this trencher from a primitives dealer in 2000. I am aware how expensive some of the old painted pieces are and how difficult it is to find the real milk painted pieces. I guarantee this paint to be original or your money returned within 3 days after receiving the piece.
