Exceptional Rare Late 1800's Doulton Lambeth English Stoneware Baluster Vase -- Designer Eliza Simmance. The vase is beautifully enameled on a glossy marbled (mottled) ground. The ground has colors of olive green and rust (in light and dark shades of the two colors). The enameled design has an intricate tan ground on which is applied designs of lovely blue flowers with flaring pale green leaves. An oval design of tiny pale blue beads highlights one section of the leaves. The edges of the intricate tan ground have a very naturalistic look with its flowing shapes/curves (underwater or sea design). The top and base are trimmed with the deep brown color. The interior is a royal blue color. The base is marked, "Doulton Lambeth, England", impressed mold "4830", "737"-- and other incised marks. It was noted by the seller that the beakers are marked for Cornelius Saunders & Frank Shepherd, London. SIZE: 7 1/2 inches high x 11 1/2 inches in circumference. CONDITION: Slight wear -- There is a hairline at the top rim (with a very tiny chip) which goes partially into the interior. The chip is barely noticeable. Otherwise, the vase is in very good condition. This is a very beautiful, exceptional old vase with a great enameled design.
