Late 1800's Majolica Pottery Begonia Leaf Plate. The plate is decorated with beautiful colors of a deep and light green, cream, pink, gold, and brown. The veins and stem of the leaf are prominent in the design. The plate has a lovely high gloss finish. The back of the plate is a green, brown and white color. The plate has a raised rim. The base is marked with an impressed number, "79". SIZE: 8 1/4 " wide x 1 1/8 inches high. CONDITION: Consistent with age, the plate has crazing. The plate has one large glaze pop on the bottom part of the rim. Next to this glaze pop is, what appears to be, a repaired chip -- or an indented spot with the same color and glaze as the plate. There is also a tiny glaze pop on the back of the plate, and one tiny chip on the white base rim. All flaws are barely noticeable, except for the large glaze pop. The plate is in overall good condition. A beautiful plate with great colors.
