THIS WAS PART OF THE MIDDLE PASSAGE MUSEUM WHICH WAS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES, PEOPLE MAGAZINE AND OPRAH. USED FOR LAYING OUT THE ROWS IN A FIELD SO THAT THE SLAVE COULD PLANT IN A STRAIGHT ROW.WHEN THE LINE IS DONE AND THAT ROW IS PLANTED JUST WIND THE LINE UP BY TURNING THE TOP SECTION WHILE HOLDING THE HANDLE WITH THE OTHER HAND. ALL HAND CARVED AND IN SUPER CONDITON. THE LINE IS NOT OLD BUT WAS ADDED TO SHOW HOW IT WOULD WIND ON THE DEVICE. MEASURES 13 5/8 INCHES HIGH.Please ask this seller with any questions.
