* NO RESERVE * NO RESERVE * NO RESERVE * NO RESERVE * NO RESERVE * You are bidding on a 100+ year old mission-style treasure chest steamer trunk. This is the perfect size for a coffee table: 30" wide, 16" deep, and 15 3/4" tall. It would also make a great blanket chest, or the PERFECT PLACE TO STORE ALL THOSE DELICATE CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS! The exterior of this old trunk is pine and metal strapping, aged with a wonderful natural patina. The inside has been cleaned and covered with new wallpaper. This trunk comes from a smoke-free, mold-free desert home, and t are NO ODORS! The black leather side straps and strap hardware have been recently replaced. Someone replaced the trunk's 2 hinges with smaller hinges that don't look quite right. I recommend changing the hinges, which should be easy to do. I'm certain that I have the original key to the old lock, but I need to find it... it's probably packed away in a box out in my (brrrr cold!) garage. After I find the key, I'll add a photo of the inside. This trunk looks like it has been around for a hundred years, which it has! T is a split in the wood across the top (see photo), but that doesn't affect its usefulness or rustic charm. T are numerous old nail holes, small scratches, and dings and t, which is to be expected in a utilitarian storage chest of this age. If you are looking for PERFECT, please don't bid on this item! But if genuine antique shabby chic is what you want, this is it! All About Shipping : We are charging a flat $38.55 to ship this trunk via DHL. This quote includes the cost of packing, handling, insurance, and tracking. We will ship this within the lower 48 U.S. States ONLY . Our lovable Otterhound Farley in the last photo is NOT included! Farley is our amazing "miracle" dog. In October '06 he was diagnosed with an aggressive terminal cancer and given just weeks to live. His veterinarian wept when he gave us the sad news. We took Farley home and kept him as comfortable as we could. When he seemed to be at death's door, my husband and I tearfully agreed to have him put to sleep the following day to end his suffering. But the next morning Farley got up and ate for the first time in days. Within a couple of weeks, as he slowly regained his strength, his tumors gradually shrank until they were completely GONE. Farley still sleeps a lot, but when he's awake he runs and plays and appears to be fully recovered! Was it the power of prayer? The force of love? My husband Stan's great Polish-American cooking? All I know is: WOW !! Check Out My 100% Positive Feedback & Bid With Confidence! May the Lord Jesus Bless You In This New Year! WE FOUND THE KEY !! I searched and searched and had pretty much given up, when ~ from the comfort of his recliner ~ my sweet hubby suggested that I look inside the Chinese chest, which I had already searched TWICE. But this time, he said, I should look behind the drawers. So I pulled all the little drawers out, peered into the shadowy interior, ran my hands around all the dark corners, saw and felt nothing. Then, as I was putting the little drawers back, one of the drawers would not go in all the way...... You guessed it! The key to this trunk was causing it to jam! ;-D
