Pattern 1803 Infantry officer's sabre in good, clean but used condition with areas of pitting and old-age staining to the dramatically curved steel blade (see photos). T are faint remnants of engravings on the blade, showing the crown and royal cypher GR, as well as the royal coat of arms and other decorative elements. T are no other markings or maker's marks to be found. The grip is in fair, tight condition with all its copper wire wrap intact, but with only about 30% of the original fishskin covering remaining. The brass guard is worn, but has no damage and shows remnants of the original gilt. Excellent, very sound and stabil leather scabbard with complete brass fittings. Total length: 96cm or 37 3/4". Blade length: 82cm or 32 1/4". Overall a beautiful and now rare sword in good, original and complete condition.
