This is a land deed from 1804 and concerns a property on Upper Milk Street in Liverpool, England that was being sold by Edward Blackstock , Gentleman to John Foster and his wife Ann Foster . Foster's occupation is listed as a "builder" on the document. He was an architect in Liverpool and lived from 1728 to 1827 . He was Senior Surveyor to Corporation of Liverpool and had a son, John Foster Jr. who succeeded him in that post in 1824 . His son actually became more famous and successful than his father in the architectural trade. It is hand written on vellum and was folded right from Day One, which was the common practice of the day. When shipped it will be folded along those lines for the large, padded mailer and will not be an issue with parchment. Indenture contains red wax seals next to each signature as well as two attached blue seals. Document measures a whopping 22 & 1/2" x 30" and has two small holes and a tear at one edge. (See photos) Photos look two different colors because some had to be taken without the flash to not have glare. In reality the piece is a bit darker than the bright photos but no w near the dark ones. Excellent condition for being over two hundred years old! Would look terrific framed for office or den. Imagine a piece of history that one can actually hold in their hands. This document was drawn up in the year Thomas Jefferson was elected to his second term as this nation's third president. This is a NO RESERVE auction and successful bidder will pay by check (mails 10 days after deposited unless from a repeat buyer) or money order. Shipping will be $7.95 by Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation (Insurance extra if desired). Payment expected to be made within 3 days of auction's end.
