This beautiful 1804/3 Eight Escudo gold coin certified by NGC with a prominent overdate was struck in Columbia in 1804 at a time when Spanish gold and silver was legal tender in the US. Who knows who owned it, where it has been. It has nice AU details. It was in a mount and some damage is noted to the right and left of the obverse profile, close to the rims, but otherwise a fabulous looking, beautifully detailed and lustrous early gold piece about the size of a silver dollar and comprised of .76 net ounces of gold. Not a huge premium over melt for such a nice coin. KM # 62.1
