1805 Sheffield Silver Plate Regency Period Lion Tea Urn IMPRESSIVE OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED TEA COFFEE OR HOT WATER URN; CLASSIC CIRCULAR FORM; ELEGANT FLUTED DESIGN WITH GADROONED TRIM; FABULOUS HIGH RELIEF LION'S HEADS; EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION; 1795-1815 This is a beautifully designed and hand crafted Old Sheffield fused silver plate tea urn or hot water urn. From the English Regency Period. Made in the late 1700s, to approximately 1820. Masterfully rendered in impressive, circular form. Fluted, domed cover topped with ball finial. Fluted design is repeated on the lower half of the urn and the burner. Elegant gadrooned trim on the base, burner, shoulder, and cover. Raised on four ball feet. Supported on four columns terminating in hairy claw paw feet reflecting strong Chippendale influence. Stunning lion's heads hold the ring handles in their mouths on either side of the urn. Cast separately and applied, they are rendered in superb high relief. Skillfully hand chased in tremendous detail, perfectly capturing the texture of the lion's fur. This is the finest quality casting you can get. Engraved with a crest above the spigot depicting a crane surrounded with a wreath of leaves.
