1806 50C Pointed 6, No Stem AU50 PCGS. O-109a, R.3. A die crack runs through 180 of the date and has taken a small lump out of the 0, making it appear to be a Q. A second die crack runs from star 12 into the obverse field halfway to Liberty's neck. The milling is partial and the stars are drawn to the edge. All of these are classic diagnostics of the later O-109a die state, considerably more elusive than the common O-109. This AU example is softly struck in the centers, with pale gray toning that darkens and outlines the peripheral devices. A nice example of this popular Guide Book variant, much better than normally seen and equal in grade to the AU50 from the collection of Charlton "Swampy" Meyer, the only person to ever complete a set of all Bust halves by die variety. Grade: 50, Service: PCGS, Service No.: 6073, Issue Date: 1806, Denomination: 50C, Variety: Pt6 NoStem
