Very Rare First Time Published Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, with provenance of Isaac Eyre [ Quaker Shipbuilder ?]..and the Newtown Preparation Meeting of Men Friends 1820. With Hand written notations and additions in the text and four [4] additional hand written pages dated 1818 to 1829 in the rear. Needs research. Very Rare 1806 Philadelphia "Rules Of Decipline Yearly Meeting.." With Bookplate on inner pastedown;"FRIENDS HOME, No. 442 PRESENTED BY Isaac Eyre." [ Name is hand written.] About the book in this auction.."YEARLY MEETING"..Philadelphia Yearly Meeting published their Rules of Discipline of the Yearly Meeting of Friends held in Philadelphia in 1806[6], with paragraphs on each of the main practices and testimonies of Friends in that Yearly Meeting arranged in alphabetical order. [ About the "Yearly Meeting"..A Book of Discipline may refer to one of the various books issued by a Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, setting out what it means to be a Quaker in that Yearly Meeting. The common name for this book varies between Yearly Meeting and includes Book of Discipline, Faith and Practice, Christian Faith and Practice, Quaker Faith and Practice, Church Government and Handbook of Practice and Procedure. Each Book of Discipline is updated periodically by each Yearly Meeting according to the usual practice of decision making within the Religious Society of Friends. NOTE; This is a 5 Day Auction. Contents/Pages.]..Green and white marbled endpapers, 3 front blanks, title page, 4 page introduction, text, eleven [11] page index,and nine blank leaves in the rear of which four have hand-written notation. Collation is [vi]126 [11], plus front and rear blanks. So 143 pages, plus blanks/hand-written text. [ CONDITION OF BOOK CONTENTS.]..Inner hinges are very good with no cracks, pages 1 through 6 partly pulled free with some border chipping, a few chips and small tears, some early "period" neatly hand-written "Corrective Notes" pasted over a few areas of text, a few other neatly penned notes and comments in some borders. Otherwise, very clean and tight with no stains or large tears or faults. Collated and complete with all contents.
