London, printed for Joseph Johnson, 1809 Description FIRST EDITION 1809, 4to, 275 x 215 mm, 10¾ x 8¼ inches, large engraved portrait of Sir John Moore as frontispiece, 1 plate of the view of the British and French positions before Corunna, engraved by Heath, a folding engraved plan of the action near Corunna on January 16th 1809, large folding map at rear of Spain and Portugal with the March of the British Columns shown in hand colouring, pages: xii, 324, bound in full contemporary calf, gilt banding to spine, small gilt floral motifs in compartments, gilt lettered red morocco label. Condition Upper hinge cracked, upper cover holding, lower hinge partly cracked with some tiny chips at tail of hinge, spine slightly rubbed, head of spine and corners slightly worn, covers lightly rubbed and a little scratched, tiny old bookseller's label on front pastedown, neat name at top of title page, pale offsetting from frontispiece onto title page, small closed tear to top margin of first text page, neatly repaired, light offsetting from plates onto text page facing, large map at rear dusty along fore-edge margin.
