SEE PHOTO----- COMPLETE ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER, the Alexandria Daily Gazette, Commercial and Political (VIRGINIA) dated July 6, 1812.

This is a 200 year old, rare WAR of 1812 newspaper with a prominent 1.5" x 1.5" detailed engraved portrait of GEORGE WASHINGTON in the masthead. This was a LOCAL newspaper to Washington's home at MT VERNON, VA and was printed just 12 years after GEORGE WASHINGTON's death. The engraver probably saw George Washington while he was still alive and would have been famiiar with what he looked like in real life.

This issue has 3 SLAVE ADS- one has a Negro Man for SALE as a slave while the other two ads offer rewards for the return of runaway slaves.

Very good condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A.
