I am listing some more Fine and Rare Old estate fresh Books this week as time permits. Here is a Nice Early American Bible "THE HOLY BIBLE, CONTAINING THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS...BY THE SPECIAL COMMAND OF KING JAMES I OF ENGLAND". Walpoe: Published by ANSON WHIPPLE. 1815. This is the First Complete Bible printed in New Hampshire. Anson Whipple was the son-in-law of the famous American printer Isaiah Thomas. Whipple printed 8,000 copies of his Bible in 1815. Bible is 8-7/8" x 5-1/2". Bible is in pretty good condition for it's age. Text appears to be complete with Tables in front and rear and Apocrypha in middle. Original full-calf binding with 5-raised bands on spine. Original Red-Leather Spine Label mostly intact. Original owner's name in ink on front printed name plate "TIRZAH C. SPRAGUE, LEICESTER" (Massachusetts). This Bible is coming out of the 19thC Sprague family Trunk, the contents of which I sold on ebay a couple of months ago. I forgot I had this Bible from the trunk as well. The only information I could find about Tirzah C. Sprague in my quick research is that she was married in Leicester, MA in 1836. Condition: Text pages are whole. There is some moisture ring stains on the front and rear leaves (the front and rear blank endpaper leaves are the most heavily stained), but the majority of the middle of text in decent looking condition. Some bend-creases to top corners of the first several leaves of text. Only other writing besides Tirzah's name I see is very light neatly written prose lines on the preciousness of God's Word on front endpaper in pencil. Exterior leather in strong condition with no cracking to covers at edge. General wear consistent with it's great age. Pages and binding all attached well. Page edges are tinted green. Nice example of this early New Hampshire Bible! Very reasonable starting price for this Bible. USPS Media Mail, Priority Mail or UPS Ground shipping options available in the U.S..
