1818 Clews Blue Tuscan Rose Transferware Plate 10.5"

From an estate. A great, extremely rare, and hard to find antique 19th Century blue and white transferware 10 5/8" Clews plate in the Tuscan Rose pattern. The center depicts lovely, detailed flowers with a butterfly. The outer border also features flowers against abstract shapes that resemble a basket. Outside edge is curved. Pattern was made by the Clews brothers in the period 1818-1834. Embossed with the earliest Clews stamp that says: Clews Staffordshire Warranted. Made in England.

The plate is in good antique condition. The glaze is still smooth, shiny and bright. The transfer is intact. T are light utensil marks. It has no repairs. The rim has no chips. No cracks or crazing. One glaze pop and a small lump of glaze on the front. Several glaze pops and firing flaws on the bottom. Other minor flaws appropriate to the age of the piece. White spots in pictures are reflections, not damage.

This is a wonderful piece. This pattern is very rarely seen. Offered with No Reserve.
